For October’s meeting we’ll be reading “A Single Man” by Christopher Isherwood. We are meeting on Tuesday 11th October in the evening in central Cheltenham, I hope you can make it – please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org, or on the meetup.com page.
If you have ideas for future books for the group to read please let me know.
“A Single Man” is a great read and was made into a film starring Colin Firth a few years back. At 176 pages its not too long and it gets mostly 5 star reviews on amazon.
“Celebrated as a masterpiece from its first publication, A Single Man is the story of George, an English professor in suburban California left heartbroken after the death of his lover, Jim. With devastating clarity and humour, Christopher Isherwood shows George’s determination to carry on, evoking the unexpected pleasures of life as well as the soul’s ability to triumph over loneliness and alienation.”
